چکیده
Abstract Within the UNESCO Škocjan Caves, detailed geological structural mapping of cave passages and surface above revealed interesting structural-lithological characteristics two major collapse dolines, Velika Dolina Mala Dolina. As a result karst processes effects formation older—stratigraphically lower—carbonates Sežana Formation (K 2 2−4 ) crop out at surface, underlying rocks younger Lipica 4−5 ). Here we do not recognize windows only in geomorphological sense but, acknowledging characteristic lithostratigraphical relationships involved, suggest use new expression “karst stratigraphical window”. Recognizing that karstic areas contain numerous dolines other doline types, presume many more examples exist, these are distinct from tectonic windows. Our study showed importance during making maps areas, it is essential to examine features such as which may be identified Therefore, providing additional data, information about stratigraphic boundaries structure, without abundance outcropping resulting inclusive comprehensive maps.

Congress mandated the establishment of the National Cave and Karst Research Institute in October 1998 to further the science of speleology by facilitating research, to enhance public education, and to promote environmentally sound cave and karst management. Considerable progress has been made during the tenure of the Interim Director (2000-2002) toward making the Institute operational. The scop...

The Missouri Cave Life Database contains 927 species and about 12,500 observation and collection records. About 1,038 (17%) of Missouri’s 6,200 caves and cave springs are biocaves with at least one species record, but only 491 sites (8%) have five or more species recorded. Missouri has 82 troglobites (67 described, 15 undescribed), including 49 aquatic and 33 terrestrial species. The aquatics i...
متن کاملFolk use of medicinal plants in Karst and Gorjanci, Slovenia
BACKGROUND Information on the use of medicinal plants in Karst and Gorjanci is not available in the literature, but collection of plants is still an important and widespread practice in these regions. Karst and Gorjanci are two remote regions in Slovenia that are only 120 km apart but have different climates; one region is close to the Italian border, and the other is near the Croatian border. ...
متن کاملSpecific aspects of engineering - geological models in Croatian karst
The experiences of developing engineering geological models in karst areas for designing and construction purposes prove the necessity of considering at least three basic submodels: sedimentological, structural-tectonic and the weathering one. The research presented here deals with very important and frequently neglected segments in each of the submodels. Therefore, particular attention should ...
